[Touya's life guys. Touya's life.]

[It began simply enough: Yuki had come home, lugging a work costume Touya hoped he would never see again. 'Why don't you try it on?']

[The answer was also simple: 'Hell no.' The costume was hot, and the head was huge, and Touya didn't ever want to wear it again. It had been bad enough the one time. And then there was a bet made, and Touya thought he would never, ever lose.]

['You both conspired against me, I know it.' And Yuki had just smiled and held up the mascot head.]

[It's a special Thursday, Luceti. Because this is how Touya is dressed while he hands out balloons in the main square until sundown. After which he will be running home and vowing never, ever, to make a bet with his boyfriends ever again.]

[She's worked out who Yukito is by herself, and she just shakes her head.]

You'd think it'd be obvious to never place bets with your boyfriend. What was the bet anyway?

Yeah... [He doesn't sound convinced, but he's definitely not smacking into walls. Sure, Touya's been through some crazy, supernatural stuff and lived through it all... But when it happens it isn't like he's completely prepared.]

[When they're finally through all the walls, Touya lets out a breath.]

...You're... not a spirit are you? [He thought he would have sensed that if she were...]

Naw. I'm a mutant. [Yeah she's proud of that.] I have the ability to phase through things. Besides, if I were a ghost, I wouldn't be able to hold my balloon or you.

I couldn't lose! [The bunny's arms bend while Touya gestures.] I wore this at a job I had and Yukito thought it was cute--he found it at the item shop and brought it home. I said I wouldn't wear it, he talked me into this bet. That I couldn't make someone we both know eat something. He doesn't need to eat and I've been on him for months to at least try my cooking and he never has. And so I offer him something, knowing he isn't going to eat it-- and he just did! Just like that!

[...so unfair.]

...you know you were totally set up, right?

You never know, I got pushed off a cliff by a spirit. [And wasn't that a fun day.]

[Touya sets the clump of balloons down and pulls the head off with a sigh. He really was sweating under there.] What's a 'mutant'?

[Yeah, she's gonna wanna hear this story.] You got pushed by a spirit?

Oh! A mutant is someone with a mutation that changes them in some way.

Oh. [So apparently... unless she was different under her clothes ~~and Touya wasn't even going there~~ what made this girl different was she could walk through walls.]

[...yeah okay.]

It was looking for something. It turned into my sister and led me off a cliff. But I saw it a couple times afterwards... it seemed like it had found what it was looking for. [While he talks, he loosens the neck of the bunny suit and pulls his arms out of it--he's wearing an undershirt underneath of course.] Have you always been able to do stuff like that or did it sort of... happen?

[Bunny face stares at Kairi.]

...yeah, now I do.

[Yeah, good choice not to go there.]

What a weird spirit. Was it trying to hurt you?

Oh! I guess I always had it, but like, it didn't show up until I was older. Kinda fell through my bed and the floor. Not a great way to wake up.

Maybe you just need to find a way to get revenge on them.

[~~He's happily taken, don't kill him, he's only human!~~]

Yeah, I think so. [He shrugs.] But it seemed pretty sorry after it did hurt me. Sometimes people, and spirits, do things they regret. Depends on how they apologize.

...Ouch. [Touya raises an eyebrow. He'd rolled off his bed before, but it was only like, a few centimeters to the ground.] You fell all the way through the floor too?

[~~No killing... THIS TIME!~~]

That's... I never knew that. But then again, I've never came across a spirit before.

[She rubs the back of her head.] Yeah. It was really scary, but I've gotten better control of my power now.

Like put them in the suit? [Touya pulls the head off--he's sweating and dying in the suit anyway.] Yeah, Yukito wouldn't mind at all. Some revenge.

Understandable. I was scared when I started seeing spirits, but I learned to be okay with it. They usually just talked to me, instead of leading me off cliffs.

[But dang, when that strange stuff started happening with Sakura, Touya saw and felt them everywhere. And they didn't just want to talk.]

Don't deal with it as much anymore--which I guess is why I, uh, 'freaked out' a little. [He smiles slightly.]

No, Touya. I mean something that's really going to get to him. You know him better than anybody, right? How hard can it be?

Do you give a lot of balloons? Is that your job? [He knows about jobs, they're very important. Florian perks up at the successful securing of his second balloon, though, giving the man in the bunny suit a big smile.] Thank you~

That's an amazing skill you have. I've never talked to anyone that could speak to spirits before, and I've seen a lot of different powers.

But I'm 100% real. OH! I'm Kitty.

That's good to know. I'm a little rusty in terms of talking to spirits lately. I'm better with people who are 100% real. [He smiles.] I'm Touya.

I did for a while. I've done a lot of different jobs though. [He smiles back--the kid really did have a great smile.] You're welcome.

...hard. Have you ever met Yukito? [He raises an eyebrow. Nothing phased Yukito ever. Not even Touya grimacing every time Sakura tried to monopolize Yuki's attention.]

No, but I'm starting to think I should. You make him sound like a statue.

It's totally nice to meet you Touya. Have you been in this place for awhile?

I've never done any jobs before. Is it lots of fun? I think I'd have fun if I got to do this. [He waves his balloon-arm a little.]
