[It began simply enough: Yuki had come home, lugging a work costume Touya hoped he would never see again. 'Why don't you try it on?']

[The answer was also simple: 'Hell no.' The costume was hot, and the head was huge, and Touya didn't ever want to wear it again. It had been bad enough the one time. And then there was a bet made, and Touya thought he would never, ever lose.]

['You both conspired against me, I know it.' And Yuki had just smiled and held up the mascot head.]

[It's a special Thursday, Luceti. Because this is how Touya is dressed while he hands out balloons in the main square until sundown. After which he will be running home and vowing never, ever, to make a bet with his boyfriends ever again.]

Well, depends on the job... [Touya looks at the waving balloon arm. ...what the heck, Touya will give him a couple more.] Some jobs aren't like this. But if you'd have fun handing some out... [He picks out three or four balloons and holds them out.] You can help if you want.

Nice to meet you too. [Kitty sounds a little like the girls Touya went to school with, so he guesses she's about his age maybe. Maybe a little younger. The last time he assumed that though, he'd been off by like, six years though.]

Yeah, about a year and a half I guess? You?

[...well. Yuki's other half can get like that.]

He just doesn't stop smiling no matter what you do. [He could wake up from having fainted and would smile, back then. Touya knew something was wrong whenever Yuki didn't smile.]

...! [He takes the balloons - correctly this time - and maybe a little reverently, though that probably wasn't necessary.] Okay! I'll find people to give them to, and then I'll make them happy and it'll be great!

Only for like a month. Still adjusting, ya know?

It is kind of cute... um, not like that, I meant... you know, cute the way a bunny is cute.

[Whoa, it movessssss. Souji stops and takes one step back, still crouching on the ground and looking up at the big-headed bunny. Okay, so bunny is skittish, good to know.

He tilts his head to one side and waves at the bunny shyly.]

[...oh wow that's adorable. Even Touya's stoic nature is cracked a little by how cute this kid is. There isn't much that can do that, but apparently joy over being given balloons to hand out is one of those things.]

[Well, it's good that he isn't trying to do something weird or aggressive (some people did like to poke at people who couldn't poke back, but most of those people in Touya's experience were kids). In fact, it kind of looks like the person is just interested in why he's there but isn't... asking.]

[Touya pulls a purple balloon out of the bunch and holds it out, wondering if it'll be accepted even.]

Yeah I guess. It was a job. I've done weirder things. [Touya isn't even going to touch that clarification of terminology.]

Not that I object to cute things, but I think the costume was made to fit me on purpose. The girls at my work were definitely up to something.

...my boyfriend. [Touya raises his eyebrow inside the head. Yeah, Yuki is a little crazy but, you know. If it makes him happy, Touya guesses he doesn't mind.]

Yeah, sorry about that. [He frowns slightly. It's kind of sad to hear about someone who just arrived.] You miss home yet? [Because Touya could relate to that, absolutely.]

No. I just... sometimes I wonder if he would even tell me if he was sad. I think sometimes we miss one another, trying to spare the other's feelings.

Yeah. I mean, not so much miss, but worried, ya know? I kinda left at a bad time.

...sometimes Sora could be like that. Holding everything in so he wouldn't bother m--us. He had a lot of weight on his shoulders all the time, but he would still smile and tell us nothing was wrong.

To be honest, sometimes it was scary.

You're pretty close to Yukito though, aren't you?
