[ now that the shock and embarrassment is wearing off, reyson can feel the irritation bubbling up in his chest; back in phoenicis guests would never have been treated with such hostility regardless of the circumstances. were it not for yue's hospitality he just may have told him off right here, but-

-.. well, all of that shock is coming right back. this is just the morning of bizarre happenings, isn't it? ]

It's a pleasure to meet you both, but.. you're..

[ ...... ]

I'm afraid I don't understand.

[ yue all of this is all your fault. ]

[It really is all his fault, isn't it? Fortunately the tension (and a silent appeal from his other half) rouses the sleeping guardian, who is even less cheerful than usual at being disturbed. Yukito barely has time to widen his eyes in surprise before a pair of wings rise from his back, outlined in incandescent light, then wrap around him.

A moment later the white-feathered cocoon opens to reveal Yue, his expression so very neutral that it has to be masking something. He gives Reyson a slightly stiff nod in greeting, then glances toward Touya with a slight arch of one pale brow.]

There seems to be some confusion?

[Yeah there's definitely confusion, but Touya isn't going to explain it. ~~Nor is he going to point out that he understood it the first time he saw Yue, that would be petty.~~ He steps back, a little startled himself when Yue makes an appearance (which does take Yuki's hand off his arm and that makes him frown a little).]

[But probably even more awkward is the fact that there are two men with giant wingspans in this tiny house. Touya looks around the small space they're all having this meeting in and notes that it's distinctly... cramped.]

You didn't tell him about Yuki. I think that's grounds for confusion when he wakes up and you're nowhere. [Touya raises an eyebrow back. Why yes, Yue, he does look a little annoyed at you. That's a new and different thing.]

[ ~~that just means you're a simple man who doesn't question the world around you okay~~

anyway wow okay transformation isn't really a big deal to him, being a laguz and all it's just about second nature, but transforming into an entirely different person? can't say he's ever seen something like that before.

his green eyes flit from yue, to touya, then to yue again. maybe this is just a big awkward nightmare and he'll be waking up again any moment. ]

Yes, I- err. I suppose I understand, now.

[ honestly it raises more questions than the answers it provides, but those are better left for another time. ]

[Yue gazes at Touya evenly for a long moment, then inclines his head slightly and turns back to Reyson, taking a step forward (with wings furled tight against his back, because he is inside).]

My apologies. Perhaps I should have mentioned... but I hadn't expected it would be an issue.

[Nor that allowing him to sleep in an empty room would be an issue, really. It wasn't as though Reyson was moving in or anything, and he had left a note. What was the problem?]

[Touya rolls his eyes slightly. Yes, not an issue. Suddenly turning into another person wasn't an issue at all. Bringing someone Touya doesn't know into their space in the middle of the night when he was sleeping and couldn't even agree, wasn't an issue. Gosh Yue, Touya loves you, but sometimes...]

Yukito is Yue's other self, but they both hear everything the other does. Most of the time. So Yukito knows who you are too.

[Which means yes, he's the only one out of the loop.]

[ reyson is struggling between anger for how inhospitably he's been treated, and guilt for how much he has clearly disrupted the flow of this home. this man may be acting unnecessarily hostile, but reyson suppose that, in some ways, he cannot blame him.

either way, he feels personally at fault. he never should have gone out last night. ]

I .. see. [ yeah he still has a lot of questions, but they can wait. he'll just have to accept this for what it is, for now. ] Regardless, I apologize if I-- err, woke you.

[Yeah yeah you try being raised by an eccentric hermit of a magician and see how many common social mores you grasp, Touya.

Yue drifts a bit closer to Reyson, feathers ruffling slightly with the mild agitation he can't quite manage to hide. It would seem that he'd done something wrong, though he isn't entirely certain what and most definitely does not want to take the blame for it, but he knows that he doesn't want to alienate his new... acquaintance.

Friend, Yukito corrects in a whisper, and Yue's wings flick lightly to dismiss the thought.]

I... regret the confusion. And I can offer explanations at a later time, should you wish it.

[Hey. Hey. He tried to feed you, Reyson. The last time he tried to feed a guy with big wings, he ended up in a bunny suit. This is a big deal.]

[And now that Yue, the authority on his and Yukito's situation, has offered to explain, Touya's going to disengage and maybe, oh, put a shirt on and make breakfast for himself (since everybody else doesn't want to eat).]

[ YEAH. WELL. ... YOU'RE A BUTTFACE OKAY!!1

-- oh no where is he going? reyson shoots him a momentary glare, then immediately regrets it; his temper is bubbling close to the surface, but it won't do the make enemies. especially not if he plans to remain acquaintances - friends - with yue.

and so the glare crumples, and reyson sighs, his shoulders slumping. ]

It's nothing. I overreacted. I apologize.

[ BAH. ]

[Yue halfway turns his head to make note of Touya's departure, though he says nothing of it. He isn't at his best in the mornings to begin with, and today he's in a rather unpleasant mood and not inclined to be terribly talkative, though... Reyson's apology does seem to reduce at least some of his agitation.]

You should be safe to return home, now that it's light out. If... you did not wish to stay for breakfast.

[It isn't that he's trying to kick you out or anything, really. It's just that maybe this discussion should be held at a later time and he's grasping to change the subject quickly.]

[Yeah, yeah--whatever Reyson. He's hungry and wants to be clothed. Glare away, he's never phased.]

[Touya reemerges, finishing pulling down a t-shirt and wearing slippers now. He might not have been able to get Reyson to stay for breakfast, but Yue might. He heads into the kitchen to start the food--either way, he's going to eat.]

Am I cooking for Yukito too? [He asks as he opens the refrigerator.]

[ hey hush he isn't glaring anymore.

instead he's struggling internally, attempting to decide which would be more discourteous - declining breakfast, or sticking around. well, refusing the offer seems ungrateful, but accepting means more of this painful awkwardness.

there is no right answer.

but eventually reyson gives in. clearing his throat, he shoots yue an apologetic glance, then steps toward the kitchen. ]

Do you need any help?

[ he can make a mean fruit salad okay. ]

[Yue meets Reyson's look with a small nod, some of his visible tension fading as he turns back toward the kitchen himself.]

I certainly have no intention to eat.

However—

[He cuts off for a moment, drawing his wings about himself in a rush of incandescent light, and then Yukito blinks, smiles, and finishes the sentence.]

—give me just a moment to change, and I'll help as well.

[Touya looks over his shoulder, a little surprised at the offer. But he's cooled off a little, and he never saw a reason to be outright mean to Reyson. Just be a little jealous of his being pretty and winged like Touya wasn't.]

Sure. [He's thinking today is a pancakes sort of day. It's the only thing that can save this morning. Touya hands Reyson a box of strawberries.] Wash and cut these up. ...The whole box. [Right. Reyson was about to see something inhuman, and probably wasn't aware that the box might not be enough.]

[ ooooh, strawberries. reyson loves strawberries.

but the whole box? he glances toward the box in his hands, up to touya's face, then down to the box again. all of them? ]

.. All of them?

[ all right well IF YOU'RE SURE. cutting up fruits and vegetables is something that he's had a lot of practice with, so he can totes handle this. off to the sink we go. ~~do you even know how long it took him to figure out sinks when he first got here...~~ ]

[It's the matter of only a couple of minutes before Yukito re-enters the kitchen, this time in clothing rather than his pajamas, though his hair is still slightly sleep-rumpled. He brightens at the sight of the strawberries Reyson is attending to, then glances over to see what Touya is doing.]

What are we having? Can I help?

[Touya looks back, completely serious, standard neutral expression on his face.]

All of them. [They're going to need them.]

[He looks back at Yuki and hands him the dry ingredients and a measuring cup.] Pancakes. That okay?

[ right. all of them. he'll just be rinsing these off now, trying very hard not to be awkward, but that's kind of hard when you're a heron in a kitchen washing strawberries. he keeps his wings tucked in as tightly to his back as possible.

and hey yuki is back-- ]

What are.. pan cakes?

Of course! I love pancakes.

[Though as he takes his assigned workload he hesitates to give Reyson a thoughtful look.]

It's like... sort of like flat pieces of sweet bread. You said something about a strict diet, though, didn't you?

[He can make other things, too, if needed. It isn't as though he's unaccustomed to making a lot of food.]

[Wow, not knowing what pancakes were? Dang Reyson, if you're going to be friends with Yuki, a lot of food education is in your future.]

[Touya lets Yuki and Reyson discuss dietary things, he's going to be prepping to cook. Pan, spatula, pitcher for the batter, plate...]

[ laguz don't eat the same way as beorc okay, especially herons. sob. these pancakes sound safe enough, but.. trying new things is always a hazardous game. one or two bites wouldn't hurt, though. ]

Oh, that sounds familiar..

[ reyson at least is familiar with a knife; it's a beorc tool, perhaps, but laguz used them quite often to spear and slice food. so let's chop some strawberries here. ]

I think I may have seen them before, but it sounds like a beorc food; we didn't generally eat things like that in Phoenicis, I don't think I've ever had one.

Oh, really?

[Yukito will just be setting to work, measuring out ingredients with the easy, practiced air of much practice. Though, he is measuring out an awful lot of those ingredients... enough for an entire family, not just two-and-a-dubious-third.]

What do you normally eat, where you're from? I'm always interested in new recipes.

[And Touya isn't flinching while he watches Yuki put cups and cups of flour into the mixing bowl. He's helping measure out the wet ingredients, break the eggs, while Yuki talks to Reyson. Touya isn't trying to be standoffish or rude--this is just his default mode of operation. And he is paying attention to the conversation while he works.]

[ it's getting a little easier, but reyson still feels like the most awkward of turtles. yukito and yue may essentially be one in the same, but they're different enough that reyson feels like he's in this kitchen with two strangers.

how did this even happen. ]

Well, my diet isn't really an accurate representation of what's customary to most of the citizens of Tellius - we herons are rather.. limited. Fruits, nuts, vegetables - that's about all that I can eat. I usually didn't spend too much time preparing my food, but I'm sure I can remember how to throw together a few things.
